They can aggravate respiratory diseases and play a role in forming ozone, another hazardous pollutant at the ground level. The map below shows average concentrations of NO₂ throughout the period 2019-2021, measured in µg/mᵌ. Higher concentrations (orange to red) are more hazardous to our health than lower concentrations (green). Concentrations below 10 µg/mᵌ are considered safe.
